To the person who left their computer in the trash on 7th Ave

To the person who left their old computer out on the street for the trash men on 7th Ave:

You left the hard driver in there, and as a dutiful techie and recycler I just scavanged it, hooked it up, and..

well.. dude - for you clearly _are_ a guy - you really need to get out more. ;-)

I respect your privacy, and am about to reformat it, but I have to say.. you like some sick-ass websites. ;-)

Thanks for the entertainment!

WIPE YOUR HARD DRIVE BEFORE YOU THROW IT OUT! ;-)

Yikes. The person who kept their hard drive intact must have been a very trusting soul. I didn't say smart. Just trusting.

Good gosh! I'm a victim in discovering what the previous owner was using the IE to surf on a work laptop because the previous owner refused to have his laptop reformatted. I even blogged about my discovery. Haha.

Well, yes, even if one refuses to reformat before throwing out one's PC, please clear the history and cache in the web browsers! Saves one lotsa embarrassment!!!! ;-)

My old computer is rotting away in a closet because of years of porn and other crap my ex-live-in-boyfriend loaded onto my hard drive against my wishes. I'm afraid to take it anywhere to wipe it out because I don't know all of the sites he used to visit or what sorts of things he downloaded, though I highly doubt there's nothing on there no more serious than "Barely Legal" type stuff. Are there any programs anyone can recommend to do wipe the drive at home? I'd love to get rid of it once and for all.

Hehe I did this once. A college student dumped his computer, so I booted from the HD and it had XP in there. I wanted to try and salvage the XP instance (thats 100 bucks!) but no luck. No restore points, and he had it so messed up with porn, viruses, and some terrible GUI problems (like all the menu bars were missing). Anyway, I did find out his name, see nude pics of I think his girl friend, and all his porn and homework. And his email, etc etc. Please people, its not that complex. Destroy your HD before throwing it out.
