Where can we get an abortion for our pedigree dog?
Our lovely Pedigreed Minature Poodle was violated by our neighbors Golden Retriever. She somehow got outside when the delivery people came by and was impregnated in front of our house in broad daylight. The neighbors maid called us. I was able to rescue Madonna from the male but we now know she is pregnant. We dont want Her to have this litter of mixed puppies because we were hoping to breed Her in the springtime with another lineage from the area. Needless to say my spouse and I are completly devestated by the turn of events and found we are unable to sue the neighbor because both our dogs were loose! We cant go to our veterinarian because he handles other peoples dogs we know and are afraid they might find out.
Now Madonna lays around and eats a lot. She's become fat and I cant even take her out to meet the other dogwalking regulars because they will know she's pregnant. Has anyone else in the blogger community encountered this before? Im willing to fly her anywhere to have this problem taken care of. PLEASE HELP US. and Happy 2006.

I think that you are overreacting a bit...
To preface I am entirely pro-choice... but I think that getting your dog an abortion is a bit extreme. Why not just have the puppies and sell them? You make it sound as if your dog is "unpure" since the golden retriever impregnated it... you wouldn't say the same if it was a "more pure" breed/lineage. "Devestated"? "Willing to fly here anywhere"? "PLEASE HELP US"? Cmon... this is all a bit extreme.
IF you must... just take out your yellow pages and look for veterinarians...there are THOUSANDS of veterinarians...it shouldn't be that hard to find one.
Surely there are other veterinarians withing 200 miles of where you live that can do the job - or you can do your own back alley version with easily obtained household items.

What kind of rightist conservative blog are you running here? None of your readership seems to be pro-life. I firmly believe you should allow your Miniature Poodle an abortion if she wants one. i hope you're joking. who does that?! if you actually care about your dog, you'll take care of it and sell the puppies. if you're a hard-hearted breeder who discards of 'old' dogs once they've served their only purpose, then i suppose karma will catch up with you..
I have a hard time believing this is a real post, but in case you really are serious - you probably do want to have a vet check her out. I'd be very concerned about the size of the puppies hurting her if this was my miniature poodle who had mated with a golden retriever...
Heres my solution, a shop vac and and a coat hanger, works miracles.

I had to stop and read all of these comments, but I don't think anyone asked what the father wants to do. Maybe he's in love with your dog, and wants to take responsibility. That's just the opinion of one blogger passing through.

You can't get an abortion for your dog. You can get it spayed if it's not too far along and that is the best plan. Otherwise, deal with your mess and find good homes for those puppies.
